On Thursday, the Pittsburgh Steelers led by their second-string quarterback Mitchell Trubisky went against the struggling New England Patriots in their week 14 matchup. Despite the change in QB position and firing of their offensive coordinator Matt Canada, the Steelers continue to struggle offensively, leading wide receiver George Pickens to go through different ranges of emotions.

During the game, the Steelers wide receiver Pickens showed a lot of frustration since he wasn’t targeted a lot. Pickens had just 5 receptions in the game for 19 receiving yards. At one stage, the Steelers’ head coach Mike Tomlin had to talk to Pickens, who was having a very tough time controlling his emotions on the sideline.

Furthermore, during the final quarter of the game, Pickens displayed frustration and put his head down and hands on his knees after quarterback Mitch Trubisky got rid of the ball quickly in a fourth down play, leading to a turnover on downs. Check out the footage of the incident attached below.

Trubisky took over the starting QB job since their starter Kenny Pickett couldn’t play due to an injury. It was evident that there was no chemistry between Pickens and Trubisky. As a result, the Pittsburgh-based franchise struggled a lot in the offense before picking up pace in the second half of the game.

However, they couldn’t outduel the Bailey Zappe-led Patriots. In the end, the Steelers suffered a 21-18 upset loss against the Patriots despite entering the game as a 6-point home favorite and fell to a 7-6 record.

Diontae Johnson addressed George Pickens’ frustrated outing

The Steelers star wide receiver George Pickens is once again making headlines for being a poor sport. Amidst this, his teammate Diontae Johnson addressed Pickens’ fits during the Steelers’ week 14 loss against the Patriots on TNF.

I know he's [George Pickens] probably frustrated, but part of my job is to tell him to keep his head in the game. You never know when your opportunity is going to come and you can't let one bad play define you. So I'm always there for him, trying to keep his head in the game and keep his energy up, at the same time we need him.
Johnson told reporters after the game.

Nonetheless, Diontae Johnson also came under fire a few weeks ago for not giving full effort on the field. But, it seems like he now understands the importance of keeping focus on the game.

As for the Steelers, they are currently in a good spot with a record of 7 wins and 6 losses. But their morale would certainly be down after their 2 straight losses against poor teams. Next, they are scheduled to face the Indianapolis Colts in their week 15 matchup.
