On Thursday night, Kenny Pickett and the Pittsburgh Steelers managed to secure a last-minute victory against the Tennessee Titans in a close game. But the Steelers’ star wide receiver George Pickens had the worst game of his short career so far. Following the game, Pickens took to social media to express his frustration by sending a cryptic message.

The Steelers’ second-year pass catcher shared a video on the now-deleted Instagram story and wrote, “Free me” under the video, seemingly asking for an exit from Pittsburgh or just asking for more targets. His cryptic message comes just a day after he had a horrific outing against the Titans in the Steelers’ week 9 game.

The former second-round draft pick caught only two passes in the game for -1 yards. He could’ve registered a touchdown, but the wide receiver failed to haul in a TD as he failed to keep his feet inbounds after catching a 32-yard touchdown pass from Pickett. The Steelers QB also had some bad misses like one instance when he overthrew a wide-open Pickens on a 5-yard pass.

Besides, this was the second straight poor outing by Pickens, as he only managed to catch one pass in Pittsburgh’s week 8 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. This stretch of two bad games comes after the 22-year-old receiver registered back-to-back 100-plus receiving yards games.

Pickens has been a standout receiver for the Pittsburgh-based football team in the ongoing season, but he let a couple of bad games affect him. As a result, he ended up posting cryptic messages on social media and made his team look bad.

After posting a cryptic message on social media, the second-year wide receiver George Pickens then went on to remove all Steelers pictures from his social media.

He only kept one post on his feed, which was a highlight reel from his days at the University of Georgia. His frustration is understandable since he had back-to-back poor outings on the field. But many people on social media felt unfollowing his teammates was a little over the top.

Nonetheless, despite the wide receiver’s struggles, the Steelers were able to win their week 9 game against the Tennessee-based football team. Pittsburgh’s linebacker Kwon Alexander made a last-minute interception at the goal line, which sealed the game for the Steelers.

With that victory, the Steelers improved to 5-3 and are well in the hunt for the AFC North division title. Next, they will take on the struggling Green Bay Packers in their week 10 matchup next Sunday.
