The Pittsburgh Steelers led by their second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett suffered a humiliating loss against the Brock Purdy-led San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Pickett had a bad outing as he threw 2 interceptions in the game which led to the Steelers’ loss. Following the game, Pittsburgh’s star wideout George Pickens took a shot at his quarterback.
George Pickens was caught liking an Instagram comment that criticized Pickett, offensive coordinator Matt Canada, or both. In one of his Instagram videos, Pickens liked a comment that said “Nobody to get that man the ball tho.”
In the game, Pickens caught 5 passes for 36 yards while averaging 7.2 yards per attempt. In a video, that surfaced on social media after the game, Pickens could be seen expressing frustrations. The young second-year quarterback Kenny Pickett completed 31 of his 46 pass attempts for 232 yards, 1 touchdown and 2 interceptions. His 2 turnovers proved costly to the Pittsburgh-based football team.
On a positive note for the Steelers, their star defensive player TJ Watt has started his 2023 campaign with a bang as he registered 3 sacks and 2 forced fumbles in the game. Watt looked unstoppable in the game and was constantly wreaking havoc on the 49ers’ offensive backfield.
Nonetheless, the Steelers lost a tough home game against the 49ers on Sunday. Now, they will be looking to register their 1st win of the 2023 season on Monday, when they are scheduled to face the Las Vegas Raiders.

George Pickens denies taking shot at Kenny Pickett
It was suspected that George Pickens took a shot at his quarterback Kenny Pickett by liking a negative comment following the Steelers’ blowout loss against the defending NFC West champions 49ers. However, Pickens has denied it.
“Yeah, I saw that,” he said according to Sports Illustrated. “My comments aren’t even on my Instagram so I don’t even know how that – someone must have screenshotted or at-ed themselves because you can’t even tag me. … I don’t have no comments on my Instagram. You can’t mention me or tag me.”
Pickett further said that he wasn’t frustrated with the week 1 loss and will be working hard to get the offense moving in the right direction in the future. The Steelers are scheduled to face the Raiders in week 2 on Monday.
Both Pickens and Pickett will be looking to get back their preseason connection and register a win against the Las Vegas-based football team. The Raiders are fairly easier opponents than the Niners, so the Steelers will be looking to take them down in a big way to make a statement.
