Kenny Pickett and the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the Tennessee Titans on Thursday in their week 9 matchup in a close game. While the Steelers are preparing for their next game, head coach Mike Tomlin has new issues to work out in the team. Their star WR George Pickens is publicly expressing his frustrations in an unconventional way.
The Steelers’ second-year pass catcher sent a message to his team on social media as he posted a video in a now-deleted Instagram story with a cryptic message. Under the video, Pickens wrote, “Free me.” Furthermore, the former Georgia Bulldogs pass catcher has now either deleted or archived all pictures from his social media and also removed his profile picture.
He only kept one post on his feed, which was a highlight reel from his days at the University of Georgia. This cryptic message comes just a day after Pickens had one of the worst nights of his short career so far. On Thursday, against the Titans, Pickens only caught two passes for negative 1 yard.
Moreover, he also failed to haul in a touchdown as he failed to keep his second leg in bounds while completing a 32-yard catch. Even in the game, Pickens looked p**sed off on the sideline bench while his teammates were celebrating their offensive touchdown.
In fact, it’s been a rough stretch of two weeks for the 22-year-old since he only had one catch for 22 yards in the Steelers’ week 8 NFL game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. And now, as frustration mounts, he sent a cryptic message to his team on his Instagram account.
George Pickens catching heat for his antics
Pittsburgh fans are not happy with George Pickens putting himself over the team’s success. Recently, the Steelers receiver was bashed on social media for being p**sed off on the sideline while his teammates were celebrating.
And now, Pickens has fueled the fire by posting cryptic messages on social media. Besides, Pickens’ cryptic messages come just after two bad games. Other than the last two games, he has been having a great season so far.
He has registered 521 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns through 9 weeks of the regular season. He is on pace to register 1,107 yards and 6 touchdowns, which are great numbers for a second-year receiver.
Still, he is seemingly frustrated with his usage of the Steelers. Nonetheless, the Steelers’ head coach Mike Tomlin is expected to address Pickens’ social media antics in his weekly Tuesday press conference.
