“I don’t have a crystal ball,” Giants’ HC Brian Daboll claps back at the media over the question of Daniel Jones’ return
Giants Head Coach Brian Daboll is getting tired of all the questions surrounding Daniel Jones' availability.

The New York Giants are without the team’s franchise quarterback Daniel Jones right now. The team’s QB1 suffered a neck injury in the team’s game against the Miami Dolphins and has since been out. Tyrod Taylor has taken over his duties in the interim. However, Daniel Jones remains week-to-week as a definitive date for his return is yet to be determined.
Head Coach Brian Daboll made it clear that Daniel Jones will return this season, however, in his press conference before the game against the New York Jets, he did not appear so certain.
I just say he's getting better, and see where he is next week.
Daboll was getting annoyed when he was questioned by the media on why it was hard to predict the exact timeline around Daniel Jones’ return. He kept it simple and stated that he cannot predict the future.
He's getting better. We'll see where he is next week. I don't have a crystal ball with injuries, but he is getting better and we'll see where he is next week.
This would mean that it will be doubtful to see Jones step back in for the Giants for another week or two.
Tyrod Taylor has taken over the role of Daniel Jones in the interim
Daboll was not the most convincing person either when he did respond positively to a reporter asking if fans would be seeing Daniel Jones return this season or not. He responded with a “Yep.”
While the quarterback was listed as doubtful in the previous weeks, it was not until game day that the Giants decided if they should sit Jones down or allow him to start. This week, the team took the liberty of declaring a week prior to the scheduled game against the New York Jets that Jones will remain out.
He is scheduled to be back this season as the team is likely to have placed him on injured reserve if this were to be a long-term issue. The quarterback’s neck has been his Achilles heel his entire NFL career.
This marks the third neck-related issue for him since entering the league. He had a neck injury in 2021, which resulted in him sitting out 6 games and he underwent a procedure on his neck before the 2022 NFL season kicked off.
