The New York Giants put up a horrible performance against the Seattle Seahawks and had a shambolic defeat by the margin of 24-3. It was pure offensive incompetency from the Giant’s side as they lost the game. The fans were frustrated and they booed their own players.
The right tackle for the Giants, Evan Neal was subjected to the boos. It was a frustrating experience for him. The RT later spoke extensively about his experience. In an interview with NJ.com, the player expressed his anger over the attitude of the fans. He slammed them and said it was him who went out on the field and faced the opponents. Not the people who sat on the bench, enjoyed hamburgers and abused players.
“Why would a lion concern himself with the opinion of a sheep? The person that’s commenting on my performance, what does he do? Flip hot dogs and hamburgers somewhere,” the player added.
He did not stop there as he added, “Because that just further shows that people are fair-weather. A lot of fans are bandwagoners. I mean, I get it. They want to see us perform well. And I respect all of that. But no one wants us to perform well more than we do. And how can you say you’re really a fan when we’re out there battling our asses off — and the game wasn’t going well — but the best you can do is boo your home team? So how much of a fan are you, really?”
Booing players is always a bad gesture, whatever the outcome is. But the fans had every right to be upset. The Giants had a horrible start to this season. They lost three games among four and won just one. The offense has put on a horrible show in three matches.
The Giants need to reshape their offensive line
In four games, the Giants’ offense was able to secure only 46 points. That is troublesome for a team that has a quarterback worth $160 million. The team failed to garner a single point in their season opener against the Dallas Cowboys and only clinched three in their last game. The quarterback Daniel Jones went without touchdowns in three games out of four. In the last encounter, they were sacked ten times by the defense of the Seahawks.
The offensive coordinator and the head coach need to come up with something. Otherwise, this team will end up losing the battle too early this season.
