Watch: “Can I go to my family?” Bucs’ Giovani Bernard gets HARASSED by the media after disappointing loss against the Bengals

Giovani Bernard

Giovani Bernard had a shaky game after being back in the squad as the Bucs RB was on the injury reserve list for the majority of the regular season. The 31-year-old failed to catch the punt fake return by Tom Brady, which resulted in a turnover in possession.

The Bucs had made an impressive start to the game where they were up by 17 points in the first half. However, personal mistakes committed by individual players resulted in the Bengals gaining momentum and pulling off an incredible comeback. The game ended with a score of 34-23.

The media wanted answers after the abysmal display put up by the Bucs on MNF. Although, the media is important as they act as the middlemen between the players and the fans who follow the sport, this time they fell a bit short and badgered and completely pestered Giovani Bernard.

The media approached Bernard in the locker room after the game ended. The Bucs RB had no desire to stop and chat however, they demanded answers and were continuously badgering the 31-year-old.

Bernard then pointed out that the media didn’t speak to him throughout the season, to which they replied, “you were injured all year” and “what have you done for us to talk about?”

The Bucs RB looked agitated by the media and stated, “Can I go to my family that is waiting for me outside?” However, the reporters were relentless and demanded immediate answers from Bernard.

Giovani Bernard should get all the praise for being composed and calm after being pestered by the media. The Bucs RB decided to answer all the media questions and kept his interaction shot by accepting his in-game mistake.

“it was a miscommunication, that’s all it was. It was my fault. It’s on me, that’s something I did wrong. It’s all on me, number 25 out there, it’s on me. I messed up. Yeah, I messed up.” Bernard stated to the media.

Bernard wasn’t the only one who was under scrutiny after the terrible loss against the Bengals. The Bucs QB Tom Brady also shared the hate equally, if not more. Brady was responsible for 4 turnovers throughout the second half that gave the confidence the Bengals to pounce on the Bucs.

Brady also took responsibility for the turnovers in the post match press conference. “The two fumbles were, you know, my fault. It was uncharacteristic. One of the interceptions was just a terrible throw, and the other one I think I may have got hit. I was laying on the ground, and the ball landed in his arms.” Tom Brady shared in the post-game press conference.

Giovani Bernard is not the first athlete to get pestered by the media, as they are known to do this to several other notable athletes. However, they can’t do anything as they are obligated by contract to answer the media.
