The Denver Broncos will have the pressure ahead of their game vs. the Miami Dolphins today. The team had a horrific start to the 2023-24 season as they lost back-to-back games. More trouble has brewed since the relationship between the head coach Sean Payton and Russell Wilson has declined.
After the unfortunate loss against the Washington Commanders, coach Payton openly blamed Wilson for his slow play calls and suggested the player wear a wristband for fast play calls. It is evident now that the team is not in a proper structure and this will keep the fans on their toes.
In this scenario, the encounter against the Dolphins is going to be a must-win game for the Broncos. They are already down by 0-2 and if they lose the third game, then the 2023 campaign will almost come to an end already. Last year, the team was horrible as they had a 5-12 record. They registered only five wins at the expense of 12 losses and almost matched their worts 4-12 record.
Ahead of the must-win game, Wilson’s playmaking has been a subject of criticism for some analysts. In a show with Ross Tucker, veteran analyst Greg Cosell questioned his sense of timing and rhythm. The analyst said, “I have seen Russell Wilson in the first two games under Sean Payton and I do not think Russell Wilson is playing very well right now. Don’t forget Sean Payton is a very good offensive coach and a very good offensive designer.
When the ball needs to be thrown and Russell Wilson just struggles to throw the ball with any sense of timing and rhythm, I can’t tell you the number of plays through two weeks Ross where he hits backfoot and immediately breaks down—You can’t play quarterback like that in this league,” the veteran voice said.
The former head coach, Nathaniel Hackett, was sacked and Sean Payton was brought in to ensure success. However, the coach has failed to ensure the much-awaited success at least in the first two games.
Russell Wilson’s stats in the NFL 2023-24 season so far
Russell Wilson did not start his 2023 campaign on a good front. Despite the shambolic defeats of the Broncos, the player stood firm in his two games and tried to create an impact with his playmaking. However, he was not enough lucky to secure things for the Broncos.

In the first game against the Las Vegas Raiders, the player completed 27 of his 34 passes and had two touchdowns. His performance improved in the game against the Commanders as he finished the game by completing 18 of his 32 passes for 308 passing yards and had three touchdowns.
However, the player was intercepted once as well. Overall, he completed five touchdowns in two games and covered 485 yards, which is not too poor as a quarterback. He will have to bring out his old Seahawks form to secure a much-needed win today against the Miami-based team.
