“Trevor Lawrence ruined it for all”: Greg McElroy says it is not right to overburden Arch Manning with UNREAL expectations because of his family heritage
Arch Manning and Trevor Lawrence
It would be an understatement to claim that the Manning family are well-known across the world. As it turns out, another young member of the Manning family has been earning a lot of praise for, guess what, his ability to play football.
Son of Cooper Manning and nephew of Eli and Peyton, Arch Manning has been kept away from the limelight by the family. Standing 6 feet 4 inches tall, Arch is a quarterback at the Isidore Newman School in New Orleans.
“He’s got a good head on his shoulders”: Greg McElroy on Arch Manning
Needless to say, there will be a lot of pressure on Arch to live up to the expectations, to carry the Manning name forward by excelling as a quarterback. Talking about the burden of expectations he is already carrying on his young shoulders, John Middlekauff and Greg McElroy had a few things to say on “3 and out podcast.”
John asked McElroy, “how does he(Arch) live up to the hype? Anything less than being like a Heisman trophy candidate immediately, especially the SECs right around the corner, it’s gonna get crazy fast.” To this Greg replied, “Trevor Lawrence ruined it for everybody.”
“If you don’t go out and win a national championship, there must be something wrong with you, it’s not the case, I don’t care what Arch Manning does, he will have in the practice or in the games wild plays and horrible plays. That’s what freshmen are, it’s an absolute rollercoaster.“
Greg went on to add that no matter what he does, people will end up putting more pressure on him than needed but added that the boy has got the right head on the shoulders, physically he is gifted, “he is a safe pick,” Greg said. There is no doubt about the fact that it is going to be tough on Arch but at the same time, if the youngster succeeds in overcoming it, he will undoubtedly add more pride to the family name.
