“Want to definitely explore,” Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane intends to transition into an NFL kicker post-retirement from soccer

One of the biggest debates that has been going on for decades is whether the NFL actually qualifies as football. To British fans, only soccer can be referred to as football,” and the NFL is what they deem to be rugby. However, Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur, be it soccer or football, intends to make a mark in both sports..

Harry Kane recently appeared on Good Morning America and spoke with Michael Strahan. While the striker for Tottenham Hotspur has had a perfectly good career as a soccer player, having scored 30 goals in 38 matches in the last year along with 3 assists for his football club, he admits to thinking about life after soccer, and his alternative career path is not surprising at all.

Harry Kane would love to try his hand at football; he wants to become a full-fledged kicker in the National Football League after his days in soccer come to an end. Of course, he will have the necessary kicking power for the job, but there are additional variables that come into play in order for him to be successful in this role.

Can Harry Kane really make it in the NFL as a kicker?

In his interview with Strahan, here’s what Kane had to say, “I want to definitely explore, I know it will be a lot of hard work, I’m not expecting to just…start kicking field goals, it’ll be a lot of practice, a lot of hard work, but yeah, it is something I would love to do, the NFL, I’ve been following it for 10 years now and I love it so, would love to give it a go.”

Harry Kane as a kicker in the NFL? Well, that is not really the worst thought, primarily because he already knows the dynamics involved in kicking a ball; however, it will not be easy, and he rightfully shares the same thoughts. The official ball in the NFL is much different from a soccer ball in terms of weight, shape, and aerodynamics. A kicker’s job may be considered easy in the league, but it does come with a lot of stress.

Kickers have to deal with a lot of high-pressure clutch situations, something that Harry Kane is not a stranger to; however, it will be significantly different in the NFL when he has a bunch of big men attempting to run toward him and pin him to the ground. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see how a soccer player would fare in the NFL. Currently, Adam Vinatieri and Justin Tucker are some of the best NFL kickers of all time. The more important question would be, which team in the NFL could use Harry’s skillset the most?
