Cooper Rush has been a revelation for the Dallas Cowboys this season. Rush was a backup QB for the Cowboys as Dak Prescott was trusted more by the team and the management but the injury to Prescott can be a blessing in disguise for Cooper Rush as his career in the NFL can finally take off and he can be something more than just a backup QB.
Cooper Rush was brought into action after Dak Prescott’s thumb injury against the Bucs, it was expected to be a 6 to 8 weeks recovery for Prescott and fans braced themselves for games without their star QB.
Cooper Rush has bought positivity and optimism in the Cowboys fans as he has yet to lose a single game in the NFL. The backup QB has won all the games he has played in and has impressed everyone around him. Cooper Rush led the team to a win against the Super Bowl runner-ups Cincinnati Bengals and the undefeated New York Giants.
NFL analyst Skip Bayless firmly believes that Cooper Rush is too good to be a backup QB and can comfortably challenge Dak Prescott for the #1 position.
“Trust me, the Dallas Cowboys scale of 1-10 on QB controversy are at a 9 right now.” Skip Bayless stated on the Undisputed. “Your eyes are telling you the truth, Cooper Rush has operated this offense at a high level and more efficient than Dak.”
Cooper Rush and Dak Prescott are currently in a competition for a starter spot in the Cowboys team
Cooper Rush currently has the support of the fans because of his exceptional performance against quality opponents, but that doesn’t guarantee him a starting place over Dak Prescott who has a massive contract and is bound to be a starter.
Skip Bayless believes that Cooper Rush is not a better QB than Dak Prescott but currently, given the situation, he is playing on a higher level than Prescott.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has also confirmed that he wouldn’t mind if there was a starting QB controversy in the Cowboys team as it will grow both the players who will fight for the spot.
Dak Prescott is currently recovering from his injury but he will be pretty nervous about losing his spot if Cooper Rush keeps performing the way he is.
