To the footballing world, it is evident just how much the synergy between Matt LaFleur and QB Aaron Rodgers is contributing to the success of The Green Bay Packers, and it seems this dynamic partnership is only getting deeper. LaFleur has a dearth of experience when it comes to the Packers, having been a part of them in the position of a coach for three years now while averaging more than 10 wins each regular season. It’s safe to say that connect between coach and team is a strong one.
But what is interesting is that in the three years he has sat at the helm, Aaron Rodgers is one player that has enjoyed perhaps a monumental level of success, and with good reason. Winning two MVPs, and securing a berth for the pack in the NFC title game, he seems to be constantly evolving and improving under Lafleur.
However, things between the head coach and his star sensation have not always been as rosy as they appear at first glance, and it is clear that both sides have put in a lot of effort in terms of this synchronization.
When LaFleur was chosen to lead the Packers in 2019, he stepped into a fantastic environment. He had taken over for longtime Coach Mike McCarty, who had led his team to a run of success before being fired in 2018. He had inherited a strong team, an excellent locker room atmosphere, and a Super Bowl-winning quarterback from his predecessor.
Prior to McCarty’s departure, the Packers had a run of eight consecutive winning seasons, averaging more than ten wins in several of these seasons. It is natural for Lafleur to enjoy the success that his predecessor did, but it also means that he is now directly dealing with the same amount of heat they faced after every lacklustre performance

LaFleur has been known as an HC who trusts those around him, and as someone who constantly relies on those around him to help him lead the Franchise to success. Aaron Rodgers is one of these people, which is understandable.
The veteran quarterback is known to be a natural leader, and it appears Lafleur got a taste of why. During an episode of Bussin with the Boys, he said, “He’s like, God dammit, Matt. It was a great lesson for me in terms of the trust. He’s so aware of everything that’s going on, and he’ll get the job done.”
The exchange demonstrates how important Rodgers’ opinion is to the team and why the Packers continue to build around him season after season. Given his success, I doubt there will be many who can blame them.
