Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce share a great partnership on and off the field. However, it might be surprising for some if someone gets to know the incident when Mahomes’ father once helped Kelce score two touchdowns during an NFL game.

During one of the episodes of the popular New Heights podcast, Patrick‘s father stole the limelight from the Kansas City Chiefs QB. Patrick Mahomes shared an interesting snippet about his father.

Mahomes shared the incident when Kelce was running low on confidence and Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill was shining at the Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs TE was out of the game throughout as Hill and Mahomes combined.

However, he is a team player and didn’t lose hope. Still, there was some remorse for Kelce, as he was not able to perform properly. After the game, Mahomes’ father intervened and told the TE to not lose hope. After the pep talk, Travis Kelce rose to the occasion for the next game against the Pittsburgh Steelers and scored two touchdowns.

“We win a game, and Travis is a team player, so he’s all hyped up in the locker room. But we go to the family area and Travis gets out there first and he was going to see his family. You could just tell that Travis was kind of down. Not down, but like ‘Man, I could have played better,” Patrick Mahomes stated on the New Heights podcast.

He continued,“But my dad, Silky P, went over there and grabbed Travis and said ‘Hey, he’s going to throw it to everybody so just know your time is coming. “The next game, we play the Steelers, and Travis has 140 yards and two touchdowns. My dad said he grabbed him after and was like ‘I told you.'”
