“I always want to score” Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes gets into an on-field spat with OC Eric Bieniemy over a minor disagreement

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have ended that unbeaten run in the NFL after just 3 games. The Chiefs lost to the Colts in a lackluster affair that had nothing to offer.

The only major talking point about the game was the on-field spat between QB Patrick Mahomes and Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy. The situation is not as the media portrayed it to be.

Mahomes and Bieniemy had a minor disagreement over the style of play at the closing end of the first half. The Chiefs were looking at a second-and-20 situation with 20 seconds left for halftime. The Chiefs elected not to run another play as ordered by the OC Eric Bieniemy over going ahead and scoring more points.

Eric Bieniemy wanted to break up the 14-10 but Patrick Mahomes wanted to drive forward to score more points. This led to a disagreement between them which was later stopped by HC Andy Reid.

“Here’s what I love about Pat he is a competitor,” Eric Bieniemy told reporters on Thursday, via Arrowhead Pride. “You guys have heard what I’ve said in the past about him. You want him that way. That’s how you want your quarterback. You want to finish every drive in the end zone with a score.”

The Chiefs were getting the ball to start the second half so OC Eric Bieniemy thought that the team could take a breather but the ever ambitious Patrick Mahomes didn’t agree.

Patrick Mahomes

Patrick Mahomes is a superstar QB who has a lot of potential and has a long way to go in the NFL. It’s his mentality and drive that differentiates him from other quarterbacks. This is also one of the reasons that he is dubbed as the next TB12.

Patrick Mahomes stated after the game that the altercation was blown out of proportion by the media just to get some views out of the controversy.

“So the exchange that we had?” Patrick Mahomes asked. “Who cares? It really doesn’t matter. Because when it’s all said and done with, we’re going to talk a minute or two later — and talk about exactly what we need to do. So there is no personal issue. You just keep it moving forward.”

Patrick Mahomes believes that disagreements are a part of life and he will be looking forward to getting on the winning momentum by beating the Tom Brady-led Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFL week 4 matchup.
