Tom Brady’s retirement lasted just 40 days. After announcing his retirement which shocked many, the veteran quarterback decided that he still has the fuel left in him and returned back to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Since coming back to the Bucs, a lot has changed especially with long standing head coach Bruce Arians stepping down. Recently Tom Brady was interviewed on what were the reasons to make a sensational comeback into his 23rd professional NFL season.
Tom Brady states reasons for making comeback
Tom Brady said the simple reason to make a comeback was because he loved the competition at the end of the day and wanted to continue. Moreover the heartbreaking loss to eventual Superbowl winners the Los Angeles Rams was hard to digest for him.
“At the end of the day, I just love the competition on the field. And last year was a very bitter ending to a season and we’ve got to make a lot of corrections to try to improve and put ourselves in a better position to succeed going forward,” said Brady.
The six time Superbowl champion said that he still has the love of the game inside him and believes his body can cope physically. However he accepts that his career is it’s twilight days.
“I knew my body, physically, could still do what it could do and obviously I have a love for the game. I think I’ll always have a love for the game. I do think physically I’ll be able to do it. I just felt like there was still a place for me on the field.”
“I know I don’t have a lot left, I really do. I know I’m at the end of my career. I wish you could go forever, but it’s just not and football comes at too high of a cost now. My kids are getting older and it’s just getting harder and harder to miss these things.”
