“Playing fetch with my dog,” Browns Legend Dick Butkus takes a SAVAGE dig on Aaron Rodgers and Packers’ WR group ahead of NFL season

Aaron Rodgers and the Packers are in a dilemma currently. The Packers traded Davante Adams to the Raiders and were confident about Allen Lazard taking over the WR position but things haven’t turned out in their favour and the WR situation is looking bleak.

Davante Adams and Aaron Rodgers had a formidable partnership for 8 years and combined for 69 touchdowns together. So generally it was a hard task to replace such a prolific player. Their offence now consists of Randall Cobb and Allen Lazard who are mediocre at best.

Bears legend Dick Butkus took the opportunity to diss the Packers and Rodgers by applying salt to their misery. The Hall of Famer tweeted “Boy, I hope Aaron Rodgers has figured out how to throw passes to himself because if not, Packers’ games are going to look a whole lot like playing fetch with my dog (miss you Lucy).”

It’s not cool comparing your late dog with Allen Lazard and Randall Cobb but that’s what it has come down to. There are also many concerns with Aaron Rodgers over his retirement and other controversies. The reigning MVP is looking to add another Super Bowl ring to his collection but it’s nearly impossible without a good offence.

What other options does Aaron Rodgers and the Packers really have

The Packers have also drafted Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs and Samori Toure to strengthen their offence and they have also acquired the free agent Sammy Watkins.

The new guys are decent and Romeo Doubs has been very impressive in the preseason but there’s no consistency. There are many drops and a poor running strategy.

“The young guys, especially young receivers … we’ve got to be way more consistent.” Aaron Rodgers said. “A lot of drops, a lot of bad route decisions, running the wrong route. We’ve got to get better in that area.”

If the Packers are looking to seriously challenge for the Super Bowl then one of these guys will have to step up and take responsibility as Aaron Rodgers alone can’t do anything.

The Green Bay Packers will face off with the Minnesota Vikings in the first game of the 2022-23 NFL season.
