Baker Mayfield has had a disappointing start to the season with the Panthers. Mayfield was bought from the Browns to turn things around but has failed to do so. Some reports even suggest that the Panthers have gone down in quality since the QB has arrived.

Baker Mayfield was heavily criticized for his abysmal start to the season and was also booed by the home fans in the game against the Arizona Cardinals that they lost.

Recently, during the Panther’s practice, the reporter asked Baker Mayfield to adopt a new drill or change the current drill to which the Panthers QB replied.

“If you have a drill for me, let me know,” Mayfield said. “It’s staying in the pocket, finding windows to throw, getting their hands down in quick game, everything I said.”

Baker Mayfield didn’t hold back and shut out the reporter for asking him controversial questions. Mayfield was also asked about the ball getting tipped at the line of scrimmage and if there’s anything he would do to address that problem.

“No, I mean it still goes to what we’ve been talking about, finding windows to throw in-game, and also being sure to get our hands down when it comes to quick game — things like that,” Mayfield answered. “Just finding windows.”

It’s pretty hard to imagine what Baker Mayfield must be going through right now. The Panthers QB is in a new team, and every new athlete needs time to adjust and be comfortable but Baker Mayfield was booed by the home fans in their fourth game itself.

There are also reports of backup QB Sam Darnold replacing Baker Mayfield as the starting QB when the former comes back from his injury.

“When Baker Mayfield was asked about getting booed by the home fans, the QB had an interesting reply. “Yeah, I mean we have to play better,” Baker Mayfield said. “What goes on on the outside has nothing to do with how we play, so we just have to do our job.”

“It doesn’t matter. There’s a lot of ball left, we have a lot of home games left, we’ll see how it turns out. Right now, we’re worried about getting better. We went down and scored at the end of the game when they were booing the loudest. We have to be better.”

Baker Mayfield and the Panthers have yet another chance to bring the fans on their side by defeating the currently in-form San Francisco 49ers in week 5 of the NFL.
