The Philadelphia Eagles have faced a setback ahead of their scheduled Monday Night Football game against the Seattle Seahawks. The team’s quarterback Jalen Hurts‘ playing status has been downgraded to questionable after his sickness worsened overnight as per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

While Jalen Hurts is doing everything in his power to ensure he is available for the game against the Seattle Seahawks, including travelling separately from the team in order to ensure he does not get any of his teammates sick, it is unlikely that he will be in a condition to play tonight.

Jalen Hurts’ illness could not have come at a worse time for the Philadelphia Eagles who have lost two straight games to the San Francisco 49ers and the Dallas Cowboys. They desperately need a win in order to get their morale back and to do it without Hurts, the leader of the offense will be a Herculean task.

In case Hurts is not available, the Eagles will have no choice but to go with Marcus Mariota, their backup quarterback. However, as chance would have it, Geno Smith, the QB for the Seattle Seahawks is also not going to be available to play. His status is questionable due to a groin injury. Drew Lock will take over the starter’s role for the Seahawks.

The quarterback did not practice on Saturday and the team had not designated any official injury to him either as of Sunday morning. Hurts has had a great year having passed for 3,192 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.

Mariota will make his first start for the Eagles if Hurts is unable to play. The QB played for the Atlanta Falcons last season and signed with the Eagles this offseason. Philadelphia needs this win as after their loss to the Cowboys, the team is ranked second in the NFC East. The Seahawks are 6-7 on the season and have lost 4-straight games.
