Matt Araiza was dropped from the Buffalo Bill’s team after he allegedly gang rape a minor when he was in college. The former Bills punter since has been denying the allegations and trying to prove his innocence.
Matt Araiza’s parents released a statement saying there “has been war waged on our son” and that “the rule of law is innocent until proven guilty.”
“He has been tried and convicted in the media based on information released solely from the alleged victim and her attorney, much of it through social media. People have taken his information as factual, when it is not,” Matt Araiza’s parents said in a statement.
Araiza’s parents still believe in the innocence of their son and feel that people should leave it up to the law to make judgments. The 22-year-old’s parents also stated that there is a lot of evidence denying the rape allegations and that the legal system is designed to make decisions.

Since this incident came into the limelight, Matt Araiza received a lot of hate on social media and in real life. The former NFL punter also received death threats including his family. Araiza was also released by the Buffalo Bills after rape allegations against the player.
“He has been extorted, discriminated against, harassed and the subject of multiple and continuous threats of violence and death.” Matt Araiza’s parents said in a statement. “He has been released from his job and our entire family continues to receive horrific threats of violence and death. We have all been cancelled. Every member of our family.”
The lawsuit is currently filed in the San Diego County Court and the criminal investigation is still ongoing. Until then, Araiza’s future in the NFL is uncertain. The results of the case are in the hands of the district attorney and they will have to just wait and watch.
