Jadeveon Clowney made the biggest mistake of criticizing the Browns in an interview that has landed the DE in rough waters since the incident. The 30-year-old competes with talented DE Myles Garrett for his position and believes that preferential treatment is going on in the Browns facility.
These are serious accusations as Clowney didn’t have any evidence to back his theory up. The Browns DE was met with severe punishment after giving the interview and was told to go home on Friday when he arrived at the practice facility.
There is also strong speculation that Clowney will sit out the Browns last game of the season against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The three-time Pro Bowler was brutal and honest in his interview with Cleveland.com and said what was in his mind.
“I just feel like I need to be around somebody that believes in me and my ability,” Clowney stated in an interview. “just be me believing in myself. I believe in myself more than anybody.”
Clowney was supposedly fed-up of the unfair advantage given to Myles Garrett over him and believes that both of them can do the same thing and make the same plays. However, Garrett always gets preferred over him.
“You’re all trying to get somebody into the Hall of Fame when all that matters is winning,” Clowney said in the interview. “Everybody got here for a reason, and we can all make plays. I know I am.”
Jadeveon Clowney headed for a possible exit from the Browns
Jadeveon Clowney joined the Browns in 2021 to bolster their defense. However, this season he has hardly played any minutes. The 30-year-old has registered just 2 sacks in 12 games this season, though he was also sidelined due to injuries and concussions.
Clowney was drafted by the Texans in 2014 and that’s where he had the best record of his career with 9.5 sacks in 2017. However, since then the DE has been a journeyman in the NFL and moved to different teams. Multiple reports suggest that Clowney will move on from the Browns next season as the player himself is 95% sure about it.
“Ninety-five percent sure I won’t be back,” Clowney told Cleveland.com. “But there’s still that five percent You never know what can happen.” Jadeveon Clowney’s tenure at the Browns sits by a hanging thread as the DE got himself in troubled waters by criticizing him team openly in an interview.
The Browns have not had a desirable season as it was filled with controversies and injuries. However, they will look to bounce back next season and improve on their 7-9 abysmal record.
