The Green Bay Packers are all set to undergo a huge changeover this season, with Jordan Love finally getting his opportunity as the starting quarterback of the franchise for the 2023/24 season. A first-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft, Love failed to make his way into the starting lineup due to the presence of one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history, Aaron Rodgers.
However, now the time has finally arrived for the 24-year-old to stamp his authority on the NFL, especially after Rodgers’ departure. The 39-year-old made the move to the New York Jets this offseason in one of the biggest trades so far. Rodgers made the move after spending more than a decade with the franchise and hence it all comes down to Love.
While some might feel that taking over from Rodgers’ role may be too high a jump, Packers teammates have put on their unanimous vote on the youngster to pull off the herculean task ahead of him. Running back Jaire Alexander heaped praises on his teammate, claiming that Jordan is in fact, the best quarterback in the NFL.
Jordan Love has gained praise from several of his wide receivers
During an interview, Alexander paused for about a minute to share a message for quarterback Jordan Love. “QB1 here, man. Best QB in the league right here. You better tell him to stop trying me though,” Alexander said on Love.
This can also be viewed as a sly dig at Alexander’s former quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who had one of his worst seasons in 2022 as the Packers failed to qualify for the postseason. Rodgers was constantly critical of his wide-receiving players throughout the season and that did not help the cause of building morale within the roster.
It wasn’t only Jaire Alexander who rallied behind the new starting quarterback. Wide receivers Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson had also talked very highly of Love’s ability with the football, even comparing it with the might of Rodgers.
Having said that, Love will have his work cut out given the inexperience among the franchise’s offensive group, which has significantly intensified after the departure of wide receiver Allen Lazard this offseason. Love, however, isn’t fazed by the challenge ahead of him and believes that the Packers have a good enough team to achieve their goal next season. Meanwhile, Jordan Love’s girlfriend is Ronika Stone.
