Jalen Hurts is the gift that keeps on giving. The quarterback is making NFL scouts eat dirt as he is on track to having a great season. The second-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft is well on his way to winning the MVP this season and has been a pivotal reason for the Philadelphia Eagles‘ 6-0 record so far.
His game is great, he can run the ball, he has improved his passing accuracy, and has great chemistry with his wideouts. That is common knowledge. However, the one area that he seems to have drastically improved upon is his leadership. Jalen Hurts is respected in the locker room and everyone knows that he is the man.
Following the Philadelphia Eagles’ victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6, Jalen Hurts made a really motivational speech in the locker room that has gone viral. The manner in which he addresses his teammates and expresses his gratitude makes every player in that locker room want to go out there and give their best for their young quarterback. The intangibles that Jalen Hurts brings to the table are just phenomenal.

Here’s what Hurts had to say to his teammates after their commanding victory over Dallas. “I want to give gratitude to everyone in this locker room. We talk about being a family, we talk about what that sh*t mean but today, we played together, we had each other’s backs. Today, we played like a family and we still left money on the table. I admire the faces that y’all have because I love that.”
He made it known to his teammates that their contributions were valued, no matter how small it was, they all went out there as a family and got the job done. He goes on to add, “We know what we can do and we know what we can be. We know it’s in our hands and that’s how it’s always going to be. We continue to take these steps and continue to take advantage of every opportunity moving forward and we can be a really dominant football team, every fuc*ing time and every fuc*ing play.”
Following this, the locker room jumps up in the excitement, and everyone is hyped about getting the win and hearing that speech from their quarterback,that is like a shot of adrenaline that energizes them more. Jalen Hurts gets the entire locker room into a huddle and concludes by stating, “We a family. We go hard together, we go through everything together.”
The man unifies the locker room. For him, it is always business first. He never allows the team to be satisfied and content with winning regular season games. Jalen Hurts has changed the mindset in the locker room and has everyone focused on just one goal. The Super Bowl. With a positive player like that who exudes this aura, it is hard not to want to give your best.
The 53rd-pick in the NFL draft has been the biggest diving force behind the team’s stellar start this season. He has emerged as a leader on and off the field. With 1,514 yards thrown, 293 yards rushed, and 12 total touchdowns (six thrown and six rushing TDs) this year is his true coming-out party. The Eagles are just getting started and with over half the season to go; we have to see how this motivated squad performs against some of the best teams in the NFL.
