Despite suffering an ankle injury last week, Cincinnati Bengals‘ star wide receiver is all set to play in the Sunday game against the Minnesota Vikings. Seems like Ja’Marr Chase isn’t going to miss an opportunity to face his rival and former LSU teammate Justin Jefferson.
After sustaining an ankle injury in the game against the Indianapolis Colts, Chase had limited participation in the practice session on Wednesday, as per the Bengals’ injury report. But he is utterly confident of playing on the coming Sunday.
As he said, “I’m going,” when asked about whether or not he is going to play against the Vikings, “100 percent.”
ESPN reported the third-year receiver endured the injury during his first catch last week, in the 34-14 victory against the Colts. Although the quarterback doesn’t know exactly how he injured his ankle, after he did, he could definitely feel the pain.
Regardless of that, the receiver logged three catches on four targets for 29 yards and played the highest 87% rate by any Bengals’ receiver in a game. In his conversation with ESPN’s Ben Bay, Chase shared his practice session on Wednesday went smoothly as he didn’t feel much discomfort. The receiver even switched his cleats after the stretching period of his team.
Interestingly, Chase isn’t the only one with an injury heading into Sunday’s game. His former teammate, Jefferson is suffering from a chest injury and has limited participation during practice, though he is expected to play.
Are Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson friends?
The former LSU teammates, Chase and Jefferson are still known to be close friends as they often talk to each other, as the former shared in the past. However, for the upcoming game, the two have limited their conversation and don’t talk besides checking up on each other, as Chase shared.
Chase and Jefferson are known to be the top wide receivers in the league, however, when asked the Bengals’ WR by a Fox19 Sports reporter, he called himself the best, not sure about his friend.
Vikings’ WR Jefferson, who entered the NFL in 2020 leads the league in the most receiving yards with 4,825 along with 25 touchdowns, in his first three seasons in the league. While Chase is ranked second with 3,593 receiving yards, along with the highest touchdowns of 29.
