Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is currently training for the upcoming season. He is one of the best wideouts in the league right now and he is looking to further his game in the 2023 NFL season. Amidst his busy training schedule, the young receiver took some time off to fulfil the wish of Brixton Wood, who is currently battling cancer.
Brixton, who spent six months on a hospital bed in Texas fighting leukemia got to the Bengals players including the star wideout Ja’Marr Chase through Make A Wish foundation. The 6-year-old kid caught touchdown passes from the wide receiver and celebrated in style by hitting the “Griddy” dance with Chase in the endzone.
Brixton has been a lifelong Bengals fan. When he was battling cancer a few months ago, the Bengals football got him through some tough situations. His room at the Georgetown Hospital was decorated in the colors of the Cincinnati-based football team to make him feel at home. When Brixton was first diagnosed with AML, his mom Ashley Wood had asked him, “If he could do anything in the world, what would it be?”
“I want to meet Ja’Marr Chase,” she said Brix told her according to WCPO.com. Ashley tried her best to get his son to meet the Bengals’ Pro Bowl wideout. Finally, Make-A-Wish South Central Texas got the dice rolling. Thanks to the foundation, Brixton was able to meet not only Chase but the majority of the Bengals team including head coach Zac Taylor. Ashley was glad Brixton got to meet Chase since the wide receiver was “super great” with her son. Brixton battled cancer for six months and is now in leukemia remission. He rang the bell at a Texas hospital on April 21st, 2023.
Ja’Marr Chase is due for an All-Pro season
Ever since WR Ja’Marr Chase entered the league back in 2021, he has been a solid force in the Bengals’ offensive unit and has been terrorizing the opposing defenses.
The 23-year-old wideout has 2 Pro Bowl campaigns in his first two seasons in the league. Last NFL season, he registered 1,046 receiving yards and 9 receiving touchdowns despite missing 5 games because of injuries.
Now, the six-foot pass catcher would be looking to further his game and register his first of many first-team All-Pro seasons in 2023. If Chase can stay healthy for the entire season, he would certainly put up huge numbers and register an All-Pro season and possibly even be a contender for the Offensive Player of the Year award.
