The former Super Bowl champion James Jones is frustrated with one of the most talented wide receivers in college football, Marvin Harrison Jr. The wide receiver did not show up at Ohio State’s Pro Day and that triggered the player-turned-analyst.

Appearing on the Fox Sports’ ‘Herd with Collin Cowherd’ show, Jones said that Marvin Harrison Jr. lacked a competitive mentality and that was the sole reason behind his absence on the Pro Day. There was nothing holding back Jones during his rant.

I’m cool with you not working out at the Combine, but for me, where is the competitive nature? If I would have seen Malik Nabers, the way Malik Nabers’ Pro Day was, I’m calling my agent. Even if my Pro Day has passed or my Pro Day is coming up, like I'm going to show these dudes that Malik Nabers ain’t got nothing on me. That’s just the competitor in me. I don’t like these dudes nowadays just going ‘I’m not doing nothing!

While why Marvin Harrison Jr did not show up on the Pro Day is still a mystery, a lot of people are estimating that Harrison Jr. thought highly of him and he knew that teams would go for him considering the form that he showed on the gridiron last year. In the 2023 season, the WR registered 1,211 receiving yards with 67 receptions and 14 touchdowns, which made him one of the contenders for the Heisman Trophy. Though he did not win the award, his performance gained him a lot of media attention.

James Jones called Calvin Johnson a better receiver than Harrison Jr.

In his talk show, Jones made a comparison between Marvin Harrison Jr. and Calvin Johnson. Johnson is arguably one of the best receivers in the history of the league, who still holds the record of covering the most number of receiving yards in a season. A rather frustrated Jones called Johnson better than Marvin Harrison Jr.

Calvin Johnson was like that. And if we really keeping it a hundred, Calvin Johnson was better than you in college. Calvin Johnson had a pro day.
