The 2023 NFL season is around the corner, and most of the teams have begun their training camps except a few. Jerry Jones, the Dallas Cowboys owner, was hoping to begin his, but he is facing a minor setback as the locals are complaining the arrangement is hindering their daily lives.
For the past 11 years, the Dallas Cowboys have held their preseason training sessions in Oxnard, California. This year, in March, Jones announced they would be returning in July. However, his plans may see some modification if he fails to fix the situation that the locals of Oxnard are facing.
According to the residents who live adjacent to the training field, the tents that the Cowboys erected for their practice take up a lot of space. So much so that it reaches very close to their fence.
They even hired an attorney, Barry P. Goldberg, to help them in their pursuit of settling the matter quickly. However, the Cowboys put out a statement saying they have the permit for the place until the camp wraps up in August. But the lawyer countered that he did not receive any such document, according to The Dallas Morning Star.
An insider in the Cowboy Nation claimed that before they started training there all those years ago, it was just a piece of land. Later, it became a housing complex, and they could watch the players train from the gallery.
But Jerry Jones this year sanctioned VIP tents that would prevent the residents from watching the play. Moreover, they made the tents very tall, which blocks off the sunlight and thus affects the vegetation.

Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys have more to prove than others in the 2023 NFL season
The pressure is on the Dallas Cowboys to perform this season after Forbes crowned them the ‘Most Valuable’ team again. Jerry Jones has his work cut out despite mocking the Commander’s takeover.
They have nowhere to hide, considering the NFC is the weakest by far, as the top-paid quarterbacks are all from the AFC. Dak Prescott, however, can deliver the goods if he manages to recover his fumbles (18 in the last two seasons).
Prescott had an excuse last season after missing a couple of key games due to injuries. But the soon-to-be 30-year-old has nowhere to hide, as the team in front of him is stacked. They have potential Hall of Famers Zack Martin and Tyron Smith on offense, followed by emerging superstar CeeDee Lamb and the ever-dependable Brandin Cooks. Their defense is also one of the best in the NFL, with Micah Parsons holding the line along with Trevon Diggs. The Cowboys have a great chance of winning, at least for the NFC Championship title.
