Dallas Cowboys welcomes the New England Patriots during their week 4 matchup. It will mark the first return of RB Ezekiel Elliott back to the AT&T stadium. Elliott spent seven seasons in Arlington, and owner Jerry Jones is itching to welcome the former player.

In a recent interview with 105.3 The Fan, Jones was asked whether any festivities were in store for the three-time Pro Bowler. While he did not specifically divulge anything, the 80-year-old hinted at something special for Elliott.

“I don’t want to blow a surprise, and that’s a good enough answer for you,” Jones said. “He was one of the best teammates that I’ve had the privilege of seeing on the Cowboys. Boy, he could lower that pad and lower that center of gravity.” Jones always praised Elliott despite the harsh words from critics toward his performance.

Jones claimed that when Elliott played for the Cowboys before switching to the Patriots, he was one of the best running backs he had ever seen. Jones also said that the opposing teams were always vary of the threat Elliott possessed. Elliott’s style of play devastated defense during his prime days.

Ezekiel Elliot’s NFL career through the years

The Dallas Cowboys drafted Ezekiel Elliott as the fourth overall pick in 2016. He exploded onto the NFL scene, leading the league with 1,631 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, averaging 108.7 rushing yards per game. The 28-year-old made it to the PWFA All-Rookie team and an All-Pro induction that season. Not only that, he led the league in rushing in 2018 with 1,434 yards and six touchdowns.

In a recent interview, Elliott revealed that he was excited to play the Cowboys. “It’s going to be fun. I’m excited to go back to Dallas, a place where I have so much history, my home in the offseason,” he said. He also told NBC Sports that it’s just another game. “It’s cool. I mean it’s cool going back to Dallas,” Ezekiel Elliott said in a recent press conference. He said it was just another game for him and it was not bigger than anyone would make it out to be.

But the start of life at Foxborough hasn’t gone according to plan for the Ohio State graduate. The Patriots are 1-2 after three games, and the Cowboys do pose a tricky challenge despite losing to the Cardinals last week. Seeing how he performs in familiar surroundings will be fascinating, even though the crowd will cheer against him.
