The Michigan Wolverines won their semifinal game against the Alabama Crimson Tide in the Rose Bowl on Monday. It was a game between the top seed in college football this season and the fifth seed. Michigan came into the game with a perfect record but had a cloud of controversy hanging over them. They were embroiled in a sign-stealing scandal, which affected their head coach Jim Harbaugh the most.
Alabama’s head coach, Nick Saban was asked about the scandal during the pregame press conference. Saban gave a very mature answer to the question, but that increased the anticipation regarding the duo’s pregame and postgame handshakes. Both these legendary coaches did not share any pleasantries prior to kick-off. However, they did their customary handshake after the game.
After the game, the cameras quickly followed the two head coaches, who met in the middle of the field to shake hands. The duo appeared cordial with each other, despite a heated game of football. The Wolverines won a close game, 27-20 and booked their ticket to the CFP Championship game. They will play the Washington Huskies, who defeated the Texas Longhorns in the Sugar Bowl, for the title.
Michigan have been fantastic this season and their defense came up huge during the game. Their vaunted defense recorded six sacks against the Alabama QB Jalen Milroe. He eventually finished the game with just 16 completed passes for 116 yards. It will be interesting to see what the Michigan defense does in the title game.
