“Need a thorough investigation”: Michigan State University HC Jim Harbaugh calls for legal action against suspended players following tunnel fight
Jim Harbaugh
Nearly 36 hours after the Michigan State tunnel fight, the Head Coach of the University of Michigan, Jim Harbaugh spoke out on the incident. Two of his players were injured in what he dubbed an ‘assault’ at the hands of multiple Michigan State players. Speaking to the media personnel, here’s what Harbaugh had to say.
“What happened in the tunnel was egregious, sickening to watch the videos that are on social media as well as the ABC telecam which is on a higher elevation that shows much more of what took place. Those are sickening to watch.” The coach called for accountability and demanded a detailed investigation.
“There needs to be a full, thorough, timely investigation. I can’t imagine this will not result in criminal charges. The videos are bad. It’s clear what transpired. It’s very open and shit. Watch the tape.” Mel Tucker, the HC of the Spartans, spoke about his players’ role in the incident. Four Spartans have been suspended so far and this time, just an apology may not cut it.
The coach did not elaborate much due to the case being investigated by the Big Ten and law enforcement. Harbaugh, on the other hand, seems adamant that there need to be criminal charges pressed. “I’m coming from this from the perspective of being a parent, and these young men are entrusted to me by their families and to our program. We have the responsibility to each player to treat them like our own and I take that responsibility very seriously,” he stated.
University of Michigan players were hit with fists and helmets leading to cuts and concussions:
Four players have been suspended over the incident, Tank Brown, Khary Crump, Angelo Grose, and Zion Young. Their suspension will remain in place until the investigation being carried on by the schools, law enforcement, and the Big Ten concludes. In addition to this, Malcolm Jones, Justin White, Jacoby Windmon, and Brandon Wright have also been suspended indefinitely.
In light of this brutal incident, fans reacted to Jim Harbaugh’s statement and agreed that such behavior was inexcusable. The right move is to press criminal charges.
They may never be able to access that locker room again now.
Dust ups do not lead to cuts and concussions.
It does appear that way.
Fair point.
That tunnel needs to be purified with some holy water.
Michigan State University has a 3-5 record this season. Despite Head Coach Mel Tucker’s attempts to tone the incident down, it has just escalated. There are a lot of questions that remain unanswered and maybe even additional arrests that need to be made.
