The Indianapolis Colts’ Jim Irsay might be the most hated NFL owner on the planet right now. Irsay and the Colts’ front office are engaged in heated contract negotiations with their star running back Jonathan Taylor. The Colts owner is not willing to pay big money to Taylor since the market for RBs is not very good right now.
Amidst this, the Colts owner is now facing backlash for his decision to spend $20 million on transporting a killer orca whale all the way across the country from Miami, where she spent the last 5 decades at the Miami Seaquarium to her home in Washington. According to multiple reports, Irsay is planning to do that within the next 18 months.
The transportation of the massive 8000-pound orca whale named Lolita would roughly cost Irsay $20 million. She would have to be loaded in a massive glass tank and taken to the airport by truck from the Seaquarium. After that, the 21-foot killer whale would be transported by a plane 2,700 miles to the Seattle airport. From there Lolita would be put on another truck and would be released in the Salish Sea near the San Juan islands per reports. “She’s healthy, I’ve got the money, let’s move her,” Irsay said on The Pat McAfee Show last month.
Lolita was taken when she was just 4 years old along the Washington coast back in 1970. She is now too old to swim long distances after performing for visitors at the Miami Seaquarium for the last 53 years. The hope is she would reunite with her mother. Even though Irsay is spending money on a good cause, a lot of people are mad at him for spending $20 million on a killer whale while actively refusing to pay the Colts’ star running back Jonathan Taylor.

Social media rips Jim Irsay amid Jonathan Taylor trade rumors
Fans on social media, especially the Colts fans went berserk after the news broke out that the Colts CEO Jim Irsay is planning to spend $20 million on transporting a killer whale.
People are mad at Irsay for not paying the 2-time Pro Bowl running back Jonathan Taylor. Check out some of the reactions below!
After failed contract talks, Taylor requested a trade from the Colts which angered the fans. However, Irsay is not willing to pay Taylor simply because he doesn’t have to for the next couple of years.
Taylor is entering the final year of his rookie deal and he could be tagged in the 2024 off-season which would cost less than what Taylor would’ve asked during the negotiations. Irsay is trying to play the long game while Taylor is looking to get paid immediately since the market for running backs is getting thin every off-season.
