Peyton Manning is one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the NFL. Besides, he is arguably the greatest player to ever suit up for the Indianapolis Colts. NFL fans in Indianapolis love Manning, who led the Colts to their only Super Bowl victory ever. However, it seems like the Colts owner Jim Irsay doesn’t rate Manning as high as the fans.

After the news about Jim Brown’s death broke out a couple of days ago, the Colts owner Jim Irsay paid tribute to the former Cleveland Browns running back by listing his top 5 NFL players of all time. Irsay had Brown as the No.1 player in his list, but there were some other names that raised some eyebrows. Irsay’s list had Jim Brown, Tom Brady, John Elway, Deacon Jones, and Reggie White as his top 5 players of all time in that particular order.

Irsay adding the former Denver Broncos QB John Elway ahead of the Colts icon Peyton Manning raised a lot of questions among fans on social media. Manning played 13 seasons in Indianapolis and set multiple records for the franchise. During his time with the Colts, Manning went to 11 Pro Bowls and won 4 league MVP awards.

Besides, Manning also led the Indianapolis-based franchise to a Super Bowl victory in 2006. He is undeniably one of the greatest players in NFL history and Irsay leaving him off his list while adding John Elway warranted some criticisms.

Social media rips Jim Irsay for snubbing Peyton Manning

Fans on social media, especially the Colts fans, thrashed Jim Irsay for adding John Elway ahead of the 7-time All-Pro signal-caller Peyton Manning in his list of the top 5 NFL players of all time. Some fans insinuated that Irsay might have beef with Manning and he’s taking a shot at the QB by snubbing him. Check out some of the reactions below.

After some heavy criticisms, Irsay responded with a tweet explaining why he added John Elway to his list ahead of many other great players including his own team’s icon Manning.

“No doubt…Peyton, Barry Sanders, and Jerry Rice in Top 10… it’s just that Elway didn’t have great offensive players around him til the end, when he won 2 in a row and his feet we’re remarkable, from baseball talents…” tweeted Irsay.

So, Irsay has Peyton Manning in his top 10 list but there’s just no space for the Colts icon in the top 5. Nevertheless, fans didn’t buy his reasoning and continued to thrash the 63-year-old owner.
