On Thursday, Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys went against the Washington Commanders in their week 12 matchup. The Cowboys ended up winning the game convincingly. Furthermore, it was an historic night for defensive back DaRon Bland and the Cowboys, since he broke the NFL record for most pick-6s registered in a single season.

During the 4th quarter of the game, the Cowboys were leading by 28 points and were looking to close the game out in style. At this stage quarterback Sam Howell‘s pass was intercepted by DaRon Bland and returned all the way to the house for a 63-yard defensive touchdown. Bland broke two tackles to register that pick-six since he wasn’t going to be denied making history.

That pick-six was Bland’s 5th in the ongoing NFL season, a new record for most pick-6s registered in a single season. Previously, Eric Allen (1993), Ken Houston (1971), and Jim Kearney (1972) all held the record with 4 picks in one season. Fans were impressed by DaRon Bland’s impressive achievement and they were equally impressed by CBS announcer Jim Nantz‘s epic call.

Jim Nantz’s epic call was appreciated by the fans on social media but the same can’t be said about Tony Romo‘s call, who shared the CBS booth with Nantz as an analyst.

Nonetheless, Bland’s historical pick-six helped the Cowboys to seal their Thanksgiving game in style. The Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was so impressed by the victory, that he labeled it as a better victory than all of his team’s Super Bowl wins in the past.

With 6 more games left for the Dallas-based football team, the 24-year-old cornerback would look to extend his record by registering more pick-sixes.
