“Whose bench is he going to keep warm now?” – Jimmy Garoppolo officially parts ways with the Raiders after just 1 year, fans react

In a sudden move, the Las Vegas Raiders have decided to cut all ties with Jimmy Garoppolo after one year in the squad. In an attempt to meet the salary cap expectations, the team released Garoppolo and two other players. The list included the likes of quarterback Brian Hoyer, wide receiver Hunter Renfrow, and defensive lineman Jerry Tillery. Releasing Garoppolo will help the team to save nearly $11.2 million.

The Raiders entered into the Antonio Pierce era last season after Josh McDaniels failed to provide the momentum to the team. He was sacked and in came Pierce in his position. He changed the body language and the structure of the team and the Raiders performed pretty well. This season, a lot of fans are hoping that the team will be able to contest for the postseason spot.

Garoppolo was drafted by the New England Patriots. He played three seasons there and later moved on to the San Francisco 49ers where he was for five years. The quarterback even led the team to its Super Bowl battle where it lost against the Kansas City Chiefs. Garoppolo’s tenure with the Niners came to an end in 2022 when the team released him. He found his next destination in the Las Vegas Raiders.

Garoppolo’s stint at the Raiders was not very successful. He played seven games and just covered a little more than 1,200 yards. He added seven touchdowns against nine interceptions.

Jimmy Garoppolo was trolled by the fans

After the news of Garoppolo being traded came to light, the fans rushed to troll him. He was not successful in his last stint and despite showing immense potential, he failed to translate it to big numbers.

Garoppolo had major injury concerns throughout his career as well. He always missed some games every season. It was only in 2019 and 2021 that he explored his full potential and achieved heights. However, he suffered from the same problem in the very next season. Hence, his performance never really peaked.
