“Just a sloppy day”: Jimmy Garoppolo is NOT HAPPY about the San Franciso 49ers loss to the Denver Broncos

The San Francisco 49ers are looking like the team we saw last season, with Jimmy Garoppolo back as the starter, the team has had to deal with the unexpected injury of Trey Lance. Their veteran quarterback may not have gotten all the reps in the offseason but he did try his best on Sunday when the team faced off against Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos. It was a close game, with Denver taking the victory 11-10, however, Garoppolo was criticized for his mediocre performance yet again.

The team had a lot of setbacks and Jimmy G was quick to dismiss it as a bad day, which does seem acceptable but the San Francisco 49ers defense was the only division firing on all cylinders. It is understandable for any team to have some of those days but Jimmy’s reaction following the game was what seemed to tick off most fans in the bay area.

“We had only one clean drive”: Jimmy Garoppolo admits to having a trash game.

Jimmy Garoppolo seems to have lost his competitive edge as a professional athlete

In the post-game press conference, Jimmy Garoppolo did not hold back on his team, he admitted that the 49ers could have fared much better. “Altogether, it was a sloppy day, we really had one clean drive, I got points off of it. Other than that the defense kept us in the game, but just overall it was a sloppy day. I just thought altogether we were not in the rhythm, we started off pretty good too, I felt we were in the rhythm early and then we just got away from it. Things did not go our way.

The San Francisco 49ers did try to get things kicking off early on but it was not enough to stop the Denver Broncos led by Russell Wilson to win the game. Granted it was a close game but it also put into question Jimmy Garoppolo’s competitiveness and commitment to the team as he seemed rather unfazed by the loss and was sporting a wide smile after the game.

This may be his sportsmanship as he did congratulate the opponents after the loss but Jimmy has to understand that you cannot afford to look that carefree after a loss. The quarterback ended the game with 211 yards, 1 touchdown, and 1 interception in comparison to Russell Wilson’s 184 yards without a touchdown or an interception.

His post-game face did seem to irk a lot of fans as this is his shot at redemption, he has to prove that he still belongs as a starter in the NFL, and pretending to be carefree after a loss may not be the best reflection when the offseason comes. The Denver Broncos are struggling and the 49ers had every chance to beat the team, for a veteran like Jimmy G who has a lot of chemistry with his teammates, he should have been able to overcome the Broncos but this loss just goes to show why the team no longer believes in his capabilities as a franchise quarterback.
