Lamar Jackson’s contract drama has been the hottest issue of the NFL world during recent times. The Ravens QB was non-exclusively franchise tagged by his team.
However, Jackson wasn’t content with that and actually wanted a fully guaranteed money contract that the Ravens weren’t willing to offer. This resulted in a dispute between the QB and the team.
The 26-year old has since then decided to ask for a trade away from the team. However, not a single team has shown interest in signing the NFL MVP award winning QB.
This situation has bewildered retired DE JJ Watt who can’t believe that a player of Jackson’s caliber can’t aspire interest from other teams. The former DE shared his concern on Twitter.
“Why are all of these teams so publicly “out” on Lamar Jackson, an MVP winner in his prime at the most important position in the entire NFL? What am I missing here?” JJ Watt stated in his tweet.
Watt can’t understand the reason behind all the NFL teams not being interested in signing one of the best young QBs in the league who has a lot to offer. Many reports also suggest that there is a conspiracy behind this.
Lamar Jackson may not play in the 2023 season at all
The Ravens have franchise tagged Lamar Jackson with a minimal salary that the QB isn’t satisfied with. Currently, the only way he could get a better contract is of another team offers him a better contract and the Ravens are willing to match that contract.
However, not a single team has shown interest in signing the QB and it seems like the Ravens QB will be stuck in Baltimore or choose another extreme option.
If Jackson isn’t willing to play for the Ravens, then he also has the option to sit out the 2023 season as a free agent and wait for a team to make an offer for him. However, this seems like a huge gamble for Jackson and there are chances that it won’t pay off.
Lamar Jackson has shown great potential during his rookie days and has the capability to be one of the best in the league. Although, him not playing another season can endanger all his potential and make him forgettable in the NFL.
