Joe Burrow ‘desperate’ to register a win for the struggling Bengals against the Cardinals

The Cincinnati Bengals did not sweat much despite losing the first two games this season. History was on their side, as just a year ago they were in similar circumstances. But a hard-fought win followed by another loss seems to have dampened the mood around the franchise. On top of that, the miserable form of star quarterback Joe Burrow is cause for concern.
They will be facing the tricky challenge of the Arizona Cardinals. On their day, even the best will have a hard time against them. Just ask the Cowboys. However, to Burrow, that doesn’t matter. It’s a game; they have to come out as the victors. “Yes. Gotta win,” Burrow said on Wednesday. “Whatever it takes. Doesn’t have to be pretty, but gotta come out with a W,” he added.
In 2022, the Bengals managed to recover from an early slump. But the situation is different this time around. If they fail to win against the Cardinals, they will be 1-4. According to NFL records, since 1990, out of 121 teams, only 11 (6.8%) have managed to reach the playoffs with such a start. It’s imperative to make sure the Bengals don’t lose any more ground.
Joe Burrow needs to start producing the goods. But his strained calf is an issue. Despite not listening to teammates’ pleas and receiving praise for being resilient and playing with a knock, his output has dipped massively. The 26-year-old has only completed 57.6% of his passes with just two touchdowns in four games. It hurt the offense. Collectively, they only put up 1457 yards and scored 94 points (31st in points scored).
Despite a tough start to 2023, Joe Burrow remains positive
Even though Joe Burrow remains adamant that his calf is not an issue, the statistics don’t lie. His rushes have dried up. Compared to last season, in which he had 257 yards in ball carry (the best ever), the Pro Bowler only has 3 thus far. Not only that, his pocket play seems to have taken a hit as well. However, Burrow is not someone who panics easily.

“I try not to be frustrated,” he said. “That’s not going to get anybody anywhere. You just adapt to what you’re dealing with.” When asked about improving the team in general, he said, “We have to be better.”
Just three offensive touchdowns all season is a mockery for a roster that’s aiming for postseason football. Fans will consider the campaign a down year if the Bengals don’t at least manage another championship game. “We’re going to continue to get better in practice and put our best foot forward on Sunday.”
