Buffalo Bills can’t seem to cross the divisional round of the playoffs and head to the AFC Championship game. Last year it was Patrick Mahomes and now it’s Joe Burrow aka Joe Cool aka Joe Brrr.
The Bills really had everything going for them. Home ground with snowy conditions, something only Buffalo players are used to along with the entire Bills mafia. Still, they ended up losing to the Cincinnati Bengals.
The defending AFC Champions were perfect – on offense and defense. They had absolute control on either side of the scrimmage line as they dominated Josh Allen and the Bills. Last year the Bills lost because of a coin toss and this year they just couldn’t match up with Burrow and the Bengals.
Joe Burrow is ‘that guy’ for the Cincinnati Bengals
Burrow is a blessing to the Bengals. The organization which was founded in 1968 and basically was the worst team in the NFL. Cincinnati had just five playoff wins and two Super Bowl appearances until they drafted Joe Burrow, 1st overall in 2020. Since lining under the center, Burrow led the organization to their third Super Bowl final and has won five playoff games, three of which were road games, something the Bengals had never won in their franchise’s history.
With an easy 27-10 win over Buffalo, Cincinnati will now start in their second consecutive AFC title game and face Kansas City Chiefs. The game will be played at Arrowhead Stadium as the No.1 seed will host the game. However, initially, it was decided that the AFC title game will be played at a neutral site following Damar Hamlin’s injury.
The neutral site of the game was decided if the Chiefs and the Bills face each other. This provision wasn’t made keeping the Bengals in mind. The league considered the Bills would defeat the Bengals and advance to the AFC Championship, but Burrow and Co. pulled an upset on the league as well as Buffalo. Joe Burrow had a perfect response to this disrespect after he crushed the Bills in the divisional round.
“Better send them refunds,” Joe Burrow said when a reporter told the quarterback about fans booking their tickets for the Chiefs-Bills mini Super Bowl. A small insight that he is as good at witty responses as he is at football.
Last year, Joe Burrow outplayed Patrick Mahomes at Arrowhead Stadium, one of the toughest places to win a game, and would’ve won the Super Bowl had it not been for the bad O-line. Now, either history repeats itself, or Mahomes and the Chiefs have their revenge and advance to the Super Bowl for the third time in the last five years.
