The Kansas City Chiefs won the game 27-20 but there were scares throughout the game such as Patrick Mahomes going down with an ankle injury after one of the pass rushers on the Jags landed on his ankle. He was taken out of the game immediately to be examined. Chad Henne, the backup replaced him and led the Chiefs to a win.

Following the game, it was determined that Mahomes’ x-rays had come back fine and his diagnosis was negative which meant that he is fine and will return to his role as the starter for the remainder of the playoffs. While speaking to NBC’s Melissa Stark, tight end Travis Kelce spoke on his quarterback and the mindset of the Chiefs.

Travis Kelce attributed the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory over the Jaguars to his teammates:

Travis Kelce has nothing but respect for his teammate Patrick Mahomes.

Speaking on Mahomes‘ possible injury, here’s what Kelce had to say, “You don’t want to go down the train and thinking the worst but you automatically do. He’s our fearless leader, he goes we go, and even when he had to step out, he was still on that sideline making sure we were good and making sure we were locked in and that’s why he’s the ultimate competitor. Even when he’s down, he’s not out.”

Patrick Mahomes did his best to not leave the game but the Chiefs were not willing to take any risks with their franchise quarterback. Kelce’s words are true, the team does revolve around Mahomes and the impact he has on his teammates is visible. He has an energy and aura which is contagious.

Travis Kelce elaborated on his own performance in the game, he ended the game with 14 receptions for 96 yards and had 2 touchdowns.”I’ll tell you what was working for me, everybody around me and we got the ultimate team right now, we’re playing great ball on all three phases, I can’t say enough about Chad Henny stepping up.”

Kelce gave props to all his teammates and the backup quarterback for coming into the game and stepping up to the plate. The Chiefs have to clear one more hurdle before they can make the Super Bowl once again. The only concern that the team has is Mahomes’ ankle and if it will be back to 100% soon.
