It is only a matter of time before Joe Burrow receives a contract extension from the Cincinnati Bengals.

Records are meant to be broken and the National Football League’s quarterback market has become a hotbed in that regard. The 2023 offseason has seen NFL quarterbacks secure record-breaking contracts but Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is in no hurry to join the procession.
Jalen Hurts was the first quarterback in the NFL this offseason to receive a bumper contract extension from the Philadelphia Eagles, striking a five-year, $255 million. His record was broken in a couple of weeks’ time by Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson who earned a five-year, $260 million contract.
The latest quarterback to join the procession was Los Angeles Chargers’ Justin Herbert, who earned a whopping five-year $262.5 million contract extension. Herbert is now the highest annual-earning quarterback in the league, but that could change soon with Burrow’s impending contract extension.
Joe Burrow isn’t affected by other quarterbacks receiving cash-rich contract extensions before him and wants to wait

Joe Burrow, however, revealed that he will not let the extensions signed by his compatriots act as a yardstick during his negotiation. “I’m focused on getting a deal done that’s good for us, good for me, good for the team and good for everybody. It gets done when it gets done,” Burrow said after the Bengals’ first training camp practice on Wednesday.
The Bengals have already picked up on Burrow’s fifth-year option and the contract extension is only a matter of time, with discussions ongoing among both parties. Joe Burrow also ditched the idea of possibly not attending training camp until he receives a cash-rich contract extension.
“I’ve wasted enough days over the last two years with injuries, appendicitis, COVID year before that,” Burrow said. “I don’t want to get out of camp wishing I had seven more days that I could have got better. So that’s the reason I’m here.”
The 26-year-old has established himself as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL in a very short span of time with his performances over the past three years. He led the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance in 2022 after 33 years but failed to win the trophy. Burrow will, however, be keen to improve on his 2023 playoff finish, wherein he lost the AFC Championship game against the Kansas City Chiefs.
