Ever since Joe Burrow entered the league as the 1st overall pick back in 2020, the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback has been dominating the league. He has led the Bengals to two consecutive AFC Championship games and the Super Bowl. Now, it’s time for the franchise to pay the quarterback the big bucks he deserves. But it seems like the Bengals front office and Burrow can’t reach a middle ground on a contract extension.

The Bengals do have the choice of picking up the 5th year option of the former 1st overall pick, but the front office would be looking to sign the Pro Bowl QB to a multi-year contract extension as soon as possible. Burrow’s contract is the main piece of the puzzle and it plays a huge part in the contract of the other players like the Bengals receiver Tee Higgins.

According to the Bengals insider Kelsey Conway, sources have claimed that “no player who is eligible or hopeful for an extension or new deal believes they will get theirs until Burrow gets his” contract extension done with the Cincinnati-based football team.

In the early days of the 2023 off-season, Burrow claimed that he and the Bengals know what they want to do and will soon sign a contract extension. But as the new season approaches, the players in Bengals camp are starting to panic about the situation.

Nonetheless, Burrow seems to be chill about the whole situation as he reported to the training camp. He started his practice sessions for the next season despite the contract negotiations.

The Bengals’ franchise quarterback Joe Burrow, who is eligible for an extension, is estimated to sign a massive multi-year deal worth $50 million a year. The deal would make him one of the highest-paid NFL players of all time.

Currently, 4 NFL quarterbacks are getting paid in that range. The Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson is the highest-paid player of them all, with an annual average salary of $52 million.

However, some other people expect Burrow to take a team-friendly deal and sign a 10-year deal similar to the Kansas City Chiefs signal-caller Patrick Mahomes. Burrow has also implied in the past that he is leaning toward taking a team-friendly deal.

His contract will determine the market for quarterbacks in the future. With the Los Angeles Chargers QB Justin Herbert in line for an extension, Burrow’s contract will also play a huge role in his payday.
