Veteran quarterback Joe Flacco created headlines with his brilliant comeback performance with the Cleveland Browns. Though the Browns failed to make it to the Divisional round, Flacco performed excellently. With 13 touchdowns against eight interceptions, many expected the Browns would re-sign Flacco.

The veteran quarterback wanted to continue his career as a starting quarterback on a team. However, Flacco had an interest in returning to the team even as a backup. However, that did not happen. The quarterback never received a call from the Browns, and that kind of surprised him. This is what Flacco said:

Probably a little bit, but not a ton. I’ve been around, obviously, enough to know that you probably shouldn’t expect something to happen because you never know how it’s going to turn out.

When the team suffered from the quarterback crisis, he played a pivotal role in taking them forward. In the absence of Deshaun Watson and the other backups, Flacco took the team to the playoffs. His performances earned him a Comeback Player of the Year honors.

Flacco finally made his way to the Indianapolis Colts. They offered a one-year deal worth $8.7 million. Next season, he will wear the Colts’ color. Nevertheless, the veteran did not hide his emotion to address his saga with the Browns. He felt a bit surprised not to get a call from the Browns.

Joe Flacco spoke about the uncertainties that he faced

Joe Flacco’s career took an upside turn during last season. He was a free agent as the New York Jets did not renew his contract. When everyone thought his career was finished, the Browns signed him. Flacco surprised everyone with his display. However, before all that, he faced many uncertainties.

Joe Flacco noted the uncertain times he faced last two offseasons. He remains thankful for the opportunity he received with the Cleveland Browns and the new contract with the Colts. This is what the quarterback said:

It was obviously a little bit different than last offseason when I didn't get any calls at all. But even this offseason, I wasn't really sure how it was going to go. It wasn't like I played a ton of games last year or anything like that, but definitely grateful for Indy to reach out and have this as an opportunity.

In the new team, Flacco will start as a backup. Anthony Richardson remains a talent with a huge upside. Flacco will serve as a mentor to the young quarterback. It remains to be seen whether the quarterback gets much opportunity to show his wonders in the Colts team.
