Joey Porter Jr. is anxiously waiting for the moment when his name gets called out in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft. The Penn State cornerback is projected to get drafted in the mid-to-late first round. Ahead of the draft, Porter recently joined the Rich Eisen Show, where he shared a hilarious story about his college teammate and the Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons.
During a recent episode of the Rich Eisen Show, Joey Porter Jr. shared a hilarious story of the Cowboys star linebacker using his vicious dog to avoid a beating in Madden game.
“That dude’s [ Micah Parsons ] a wild guy. There’s a lot. There’s a lot of stories about him. I’ll just say the first day I got here, he had a dog and the dog was vicious. I mean, like, nobody could be around his dog but him. And I’m at his house, and I’m playing Madden, and I’m ’bout to win the game. And he got so mad that he sicced his dog on me. So I couldn’t even kick the field goal to win the game and I ended up losing and I felt like this dude is crazy,” said Porter Jr. about the Cowboys star on the Rich Eisen Show.
Well, one can’t get 2 first-team All-Pro nods in his first 2 years in the league without being extremely competitive. Hopefully, Joey Porter Jr. has picked some of that from his former Penn State teammate.
What is Joey Porter Jr’s draft stock?
Joey Porter Jr’s parents are Joey Porter Sr. and Christy Porter and he was a former four-star recruit out of Pennsylvania. After receiving multiple D1 offers, the son of the former Pittsburgh Steelers LB Joey Porter decided to play for the Penn State Nittany Lions.
During his four-year stint with the Big 10 team, Porter played 34 games and registered 113 total tackles, 1 sack, 1 interception, and 20 pass deflections. He is considered of the top CB prospects in the 2023 Draft class.
At the 2023 NFL Combine, Porter ran the 40-yard dash in 4.46 seconds. Besides, the 6’2″ cornerback logged a 10’9″ broad jump, a 35″ vertical, and 17 reps at the bench press.
There are multiple teams in this NFL Draft that are in dire need of a cornerback and any one of them will be more than happy to dress Joey Porter Jr. in their team’s colors. He is expected to go in the mid-to-late first round in the Draft.
