The Cleveland Browns manage to get the most diverse players at quarterback, from Johnny Manziel to Baker Mayfield, Deshaun Watson, and now Joe Flacco. The 38-year-old veteran has become the savior for the Browns after Watson went down with a season-ending shoulder injury. Following the team’s victory against the Jets on Thursday, Flacco has led the Browns to a playoff berth.
He became the first player in league history to have 250 passing yards along with multiple touchdowns in his first five games with a new team. Now, Flacco is close to overtaking another prominent QB on the Cleveland Browns’ all-time passing yards list. He is just 59 yards short of surpassing Johnny Manziel’s record of throwing for 1,675 yards on the Browns.
Manziel had seven touchdowns, a record Flacco has already surpassed this season as he has 13. Manziel responded to the news that he could soon move one spot down from his current 31st position on the all-time passing yards list through a tweet on X(formerly known as Twitter).
Here is what he had to write:

Johnny Manziel is looking forward to Joe Flacco overtaking him on the all-time passing yards list
The Flacco fever has gripped Ohio, in just 5 games, the veteran QB has made a bigger impact than Deshaun Watson did the entire season and he has brought a renewed sense of enthusiasm amongst the fanbase. The energy in the locker room is different as he is very well respected owing to his accomplishments.
Johhny Manziel was nothing short of a phenom when he was drafted by the Browns in 2015. The Heisman trophy winner revolutionized football with his trick plays and party animal persona. However, he never quite became the quarterback the Browns had anticipated him to be.
His career was cut short due to his lack of commitment and discipline to the sport, in addition to this, his constant habit of partying and frivolous spending got to him. Manziel nearly ended his own life and never played in the NFL after 14 appearances for the Browns. He has now moved on and is in a much better place mentally and is happy.
