The Green Bay Packers are all set to feature a new starting quarterback cometh the 2023/24 NFL season in the form of Jordan Love. Despite it being his first season in such a role, he’s already managed to convince NFL analyst, Mike Tannenbaum, who also sees the franchise achieve top spot in the NFC North division.
Mike Tannenbaum heaped praise on the 24-year-old, as he shockingly lauded him as the best quarterback in all of the NFC North division. The former New York Jets general manager also drew similarities between the current Packers’ roster and his Jets side from 2009 and 2010, during which the franchise reached the AFC Conference Championships.
“Green Bay Packers are winning. They’re gonna sneak up on teams, and they’re gonna win the NFC North. Jordan Love is going to have a really good year. This team reminds me of the 2010, 2009 Jets. They’re gonna want the ball, they have two great backs in Aaron Jones and AJ Dhillon. A really good defense with eight first-round picks,” Tannenbaum started off on the Packers’ season aspirations while speaking on ESPN’s First Take show.
Jordan Love has plenty of responsibilities in his first season as Packers’ No.1 quarterback
“Jordan Love has benefitted from sitting. I don’t think he’ll be great, I think he’s gonna be very good. I think the Green Bay Packers are the surprise team of this NFL season,” Tannenbaum finished off.
Love, who was a first-round pick from the 2020 NFL draft, will take over the role vacated by veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who ended his 17-year association with the franchise this offseason. Rodgers failed to lead the Packers into the playoffs last season, as they finished with a losing 8-9 record. Their playoff hopes were dashed courtesy of a defeat against the Lions in the final game of the regular season.
So far, Jordan Love has played a total of 10 games in the NFL over the course of the past three years, but his only start came way back in 2021 against the Chiefs. The fourth-year quarterback will therefore only start for the second time in his career cometh the 2023/24 regular season opener against the Chicago Bears.
Even within the NFC North division, Jordan Love will come up against the likes of Jared Goff and Justin Fields, both of whom have more experience in the NFL. He needs to produce a herculean season personally if he is to come anywhere close to fulfilling Mike Tannenbaum’s offseason predictions and expectations.
