“Bills fans were crying about this when the Eagles played them” – Josh Allen successfully attempting the controversial ‘Tush-Push’ play against the Chargers sparks mixed reactions on social media

Josh Allen showed that the Philadelphia Eagles aren’t the only ones efficient with the ‘tush-push‘. The Buffalo Bills quarterback, who loves to make a few mazey runs whenever the chance arrives, went for something different.
Deep in the third quarter, the Buffalo Bills were leading the Los Angeles Chargers by a point. With just over 3 minutes left on the clock, Allen threw a looping pass to Gabe Davis near the Chargers 15-yard line. He followed it up with a handover to running back James Cook in the next snap, and he gained a few more inches to move the chain close to the 1-yard.
On any other occasion, Allen’s next course of action would have been to take the ball and run into the end zone by himself. Or, he could have found a teammate inside the zone to complete the touchdown. He went with the third option. And that was the infamous quarterback sneak, aka ‘tush-push.’
The 27-year-old had the giant frames of Ed Oliver and Latavius Murray shielding him from on-rushing Chargers players as they hurled the ball past the goal line for a Bills touchdown. With that, they increased the lead by 6 points on the night.
Josh Allen’s ‘tush-push’ draws mixed reactions from the media
The Eagles and the Bills faced each other just two matchdays ago. During the game, the Bills’ Jordan Phillips almost injured the Eagles, Cam Jurgens. Veteran Philly center Jason Kelce even called out Phillips for targeting his teammate. But the Bills defensive lineman turned the narrative on Kelce, saying the Eagles do it almost every single time while using ‘tush-push.’
It has been a center of debate for some time about whether the method is too dangerous for teams to apply. Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes once dislocated his kneecap while attempting it. So when Allen decided to take a page out of the Eagles playbook, social media cried hypocrisy.
That was Josh Allen’s second rushing touchdown of the night. His first one came when the Bills were trailing by 3 points right before the end of the second quarter. After taking the snap, Allen saw the gap in the Chargers wall and walked in for a 2-yard TD.
With that touchdown, Allen now has 13 rushing touchdowns this season, only behind Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts with 14. He finished the Chargers game with 15/21 for 237 yards, one passing touchdown, one interception, five carries for 15 yards, and two touchdowns. This win gave the Bills a 9-6 record, and they are right back in the hunt for a wild card spot in the AFC.
