Josh Jacobs has been an instrumental player in the Las Vegas Raiders team ever since he was drafted. However, the talented RB has been franchise tagged for his 5th year and won’t receive a long-term deal. Instead, he will have to play with a salary of $10 million or sit out the whole season. With tempers flaring high in the RB market, the Raiders RB decided to roll out a series of harsh tweets.
There was a conversation going around that the Raiders weren’t trying to reset the RB market, which sits somewhere at $16 or $17 million per season. However, Josh Jacobs immediately denied that conspiracy on Twitter and stated, “We never tried to reset the market.”
On the other hand, the young RB also decided to prove his worth and tweeted an interesting statement that will surely attract many Raiders fans. Jacobs believes he’s very near to breaking several previous RB records in the organization. “One healthy season but I have every raider record damn near ?,” Josh Jacobs stated in a tweet. Interestingly, the franchise-tagged RB isn’t wrong. Jacobs has nearly broken several Raiders records, including the rookie rushing yard record, and Raiders single-game rushing record.
Nonetheless, the RB market is currently deflated and Jacobs isn’t the only one struggling to get a long-term deal. New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley and Dallas Cowboys RB Tony Pollard are all in the same boat.
Josh Jacobs, Saquon Barkley, and Tony Pollard failed to sign a long-term deal

Monday was the deadline for all the players to sign extensive long-term deals with their teams. While Josh Jacobs took out his frustration through various tweets, Saquon Barkley and Tony Pollard were completely shushed throughout the process.
Both Jacobs and Barkley have been highly instrumental in their team and delivered exceptional results in almost every game. Therefore, there was some cause of concern around teams not offering them a decent deal.
It is speculated that no team wants to reset the RB market and give running backs lucrative big-money deals like the wide receivers and the QBs. On the other hand, RBs are equally fundamental and important to the game. Josh Jacobs, Saquon Barkley, and Tony Pollard are up against the NFL to demand a lucrative deal. It is also expected that they won’t feature in the offseason training program due to the recent circumstances.
