“AWFUL call”: The NFL’s poor refereeing continues this season as Twitterati BLAST the league over Joshua Kalu’s holding call

Travis Kelce hit Joshua Kalu right in the visor.

It is another new week and we have yet another instance of the NFL’s subpar refereeing on a Sunday Night Football game. This latest incident took place in the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Tennessee Titans. It was an unusually close game that ended up going into overtime.

However, the biggest highlight of the game was not a touchdown or interception, but it was a flag thrown by the referees. In the final quarter of the Sunday Night game, the Chiefs had lined up to complete a two-point conversion, however; it was what happened when the ball was snapped that is the issue.

Travis Kelce was being guarded by Joshua Kalu, the safety of the Titans. The tight end while running his route attempted to get separation from his defender and in an attempt to do so, he hit Kalu right on the visor and he does not stop there. The tight end roughs him up further and ultimately ends up taking his helmet off.

From every angle, it was evident that Travis Kelce deserved to get the call in this situation, however; the referees did not see it that way. To them, Kelce had been wronged and, as a result, the flag was called on Joshua Kalu. He was called for holding. This call was a confusing one.

After this unusual incident, fans were surprised at how the officials could miss such an evident call. They took to Twitter to share their thoughts on this play:

Advantages of being on track to be the greatest player in your position.

2-point conversion is the worst time to even consider doing it.

It’s crazy how the referees missed this. It would be interesting to know the reasoning behind their decision.

Patrick Mahomes is that dude. He is the new face of the NFL.

Nobody has ever complained about having too much help.

This call by the refs was surprising, from all angles. It is hard to point the finger at Kalu as he looks helpless for the most part.
