Either with or without the Bears, QB Justin Fields is confident that he has a long NFL career ahead.

Justin Fields‘ career graph with the Chicago Bears didn’t go as planned when he got drafted in 2021. The young quarterback entered the NFL in a losing standing, as the Bears lagged the infrastructure, support, and planning needed to take the best advantage of his skills.
Now the Bears have projected their decision to draft the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft that would mostly replace Fields as the Bears’ future starting QB. Given that, whether or not quarterback Fields gets a fair chance depends upon the coming five weeks of this season.
On Wednesday, Fields was asked whether it’s fair that his potential future with the Bears has been weighed upon the remaining five games of the 2023 season. The 24-year-old seems to view it from a different perspective, as he believes there’s no point stressing over something that’s completely out of your control.
Fields said during a conversation with Josh Schrock of NBC Sports Chicago:
I mean, life isn't fair. I'm just focused on what I can control, and the rest is in God’s hands.
He then went on to add:
Wherever, if I’m here next year, if I’m not, football doesn’t define who I am as a person. My happiness will still be in the same place, will still be in God. . . . I know that God’s got me, and I’m going to be good. I’m very blessed in the position I am in, and I think a million people would love to be in the position I am right now. So really just, I’m not taking that for granted and just taking each and every moment I have every day up here to the fullest.
Either with or without the Bears, the young quarterback for sure plans to get on the field next season. As for this season, the coming five games would be a testament to Fields’ future with Bears, and their minute chance of making it to the postseason.
Justin Fields doesn’t take criticism personally
While talking about his uncertain future with the Bears, QB Fields also emphasized the amount of criticism he gets, and how unaffected he is by them. The third-year quarterback seems to be used to the criticism thrown in his side, from fans and media. However, that doesn’t stop him from playing his best or doubting his skills.
Fields said:
Shoot, since I got to Chicago, y'all don't hold back. I hear it from y'all, I hear it from fans and stuff like that. I don't take any of it personally, because I know everybody's entitled to their opinion on certain things and stuff like that. That's one thing I try to do is not take anything personally, and just go about it that way.
Regardless of what everyone thinks, Fields is confident that he has a long NFL career ahead. Although things are going slow for him, “it ended up going another way and it worked out better than I ever could have imagined.” This is why, Fields isn’t bothered by all the criticism or the uncertainty. He is focusing on what’s in his control and being the “best person” and “best player” that he can.
