“Criticism has to stop!” Justin Jefferson HARSHLY hits back at critics by coming in support of QB Kirk Cousins
Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson
One of the best wide receivers in the league currently, Justin Jefferson has recently defended his teammate and star quarterback Kirk Cousins. The 34-year-old QB is one of the softest targets in the league and is heavily criticized constantly for the smallest of things. Cousins has done pretty well this season and has led the Vikings’ offense to perfection. They are the second-best team in the NFC currently, but Cousins is still not given enough credit and isn’t regarded among the top-tier quarterbacks.
Maybe it’s his demeanor and off-field persona, or his lack of team playoff success- Cousins hasn’t made many fans and most of the time, he is just a part of a narrative against him. Many even believe that he is massively overpaid and can’t win big games. And it is this very reason why many aren’t considering the Vikings as a dangerous team in the playoffs despite them having a great 12-3 record for the season.
Former Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder was bashing Kirk Cousins on First Take and the video of the same went viral on social media. The clip caught Justin Jefferson’s eye, and the WR was quick to defend his teammate. “I’ve seen some weaknesses out of the Vikings, and it’s on Kirk Cousins’ shoulders,” Crowder said.
He said that the criticism about Cousins has to stop and made a point that his numbers are as good as the so-called MVP candidates. “All of the Kirk criticism has to stop!! I understand y’all hate the dad swag but come on his numbers are right with y’all’s MVP candidates,” Jefferson tweeted.
Can Kirk Cousins and Justin Jefferson do it for the Vikings this season?
Despite the Vikings being one of the best teams in the NFL currently, Cousins is nowhere near the MVP candidates like Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, and Jalen Hurts. He is fifth in the league in passing yards and tied for fourth in touchdowns. It can be safely said that he isn’t even the MVP of his team, but most of the surrounding criticism seems unnecessary now.
With Jefferson firing the way he is, the Vikings are a serious Super Bowl contender this season and will most likely go into the playoff as NFC’s No.2 seed. They can even be the No.1 seeds if the Eagles fumble in their remaining two games with Hurts’ absence.
The Vikings are currently 12-3 for the season and have clinched the NFC North division. In their remaining two games, they will face the Packers and the Bears in the next two weeks. They will have to win both their games to be in contention for NFC’s No.1 seeding.
