Vikings WR Justin Jefferson SNUBS teammate Kirk Cousins off his Top-5 QB list by crowning Patrick Mahomes as the best in the league
Jefferson has picked his former college teammate Joe Burrow over Cousins.

Ranking the best quarterbacks in the NFL can be a tough task, considering there are a bunch of them. Every year, fans put forward their opinions as to who is the top dog. However, when a player shares his thoughts on who is at the top of the food chain, it creates buzz. Something similar happened as Justin Jefferson revealed his top five quarterbacks, excluding his teammate Kirk Cousins.
While enjoying some summer downtime in Brazil before the NFL training camp, Jefferson met with local reporter Danilo Lacalle. He asked the Vikings wide receiver to name the players he thinks are the top five quarterbacks in the league. “I have to say No. 1 would be Patrick Mahomes,” said Jefferson.
That’s a no-brainer, as Mahomes is the current Super Bowl MVP. Then Jefferson continued with the rest of the list, mentioning “No. 2. I have to say Aaron Rodgers. No. 3: Joey B. (Joe Burrow); No. 4: I have to pick. Jalen Hurts, gotta respect his game. Bro took Philadelphia to the championship game, and No. 5, I have to say Josh Allen.”
The most surprising part of the list is that he left his Vikings quarterback, Kirk Cousins. Jefferson’s choice of players will be hard to argue against, but Cousins does have a good track record for the Vikings in particular. The 34-year-old started his career for the Washington Redskins, now the Commanders. In his first three seasons, he played second fiddle to Rex Grossman and then Robert Griffin III.
2015 was his breakout year, all things considered, as he played 16 matches and recorded 4,166 passing yards with 29 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He managed to lead the league in passing percentage. Next year, Cousins managed his best-ever passing year with 4,917 yards and was given his Pro Bowl title. His form has continued at Minnesota, and he even recorded his best-ever touchdown year (35) in 2020.

Justin Jefferson’s girlfriend is Tianna Harris. He is correct in his assessment of who the top five quarterbacks are in the league. Maybe he would have included Cousins if the list was in the top 10, or it’s quite possible Cousins would have been his sixth pick; only he knows.
Kirk Cousins has proven over the years that he can go toe-to-toe with some of the best in the business individually. However, his team hasn’t profited much from his output except for 2022, when the Vikings, after two underwhelming seasons, achieved a positive 13-7 record.
Moreover, Cousins’ time with the Vikings is running out quickly. He signed a one-year extension with a reported fee of $35,000,000, which includes a $25,000,000 signing bonus. In 2024, Michigan State alumni will be a free agent.
